I have to be honest, being a Florida girl this first South Carolina winter was hard on me: the consistent below 50 days, frozen toes, and gloomy skys are something even a girl who LOVES her cozy socks, snuggly blankets, and warming up with a hot coffee can’t get past after so many months. How do you all do it?
With that said – the days long awaited are finally here, the weather is warming up and the sun is out! With summer comes so many exciting things, and for me it looks like this:
1. Summer Vision Board
Yes, the first item on my list is designing how I want summer to look or me and this year I am taking full advantage of this season: lake days, backyard bbq’s, beach trips, daily walks, you name it! I’m definitely guilty of not appreciating these aspects of summer months enough because I was so used to having warm weather year-round – but not this year! I also love the idea of designing a vision board (digital or physical) so I can have a visual reminder to take advantage and create the experiences that are what make this season so much fun.
2. Outside Workouts
As much as I love my consistent workouts of lifting heavyweights in the gym, as the weather has warmed up I’ve been feeling a pull to get outside and move – and I’m talking SWEAT. Honoring and listening to your body is the most important thing so changing up my workout have been essential to my self-love journey
3. Skinimilisam
No doubt I am hopping on this trend! This year is all about embracing our natural skin, not only because who REALLY wants to wear a whole face of makeup when its 90 degrees and the humidity has you sweating bullets but because it’s just so good for our skin to take a break – also, embrace your natural beauty like heck, it feels SO good.
I’ve added in a few essential skincare items that I am loving right now, as well as daily Gua Shua massage, top it with a tinted mineral sunscreen, swipe. of blush, and my favorite nude lip: BAM! easy, flawless, dewy glow perfect for these summer days.
4. Closet Overhaul
Summer fashion has always been more difficult for me than all the other seasons – it’s hot, we’re sweating, and does anyone really feel cute in a pair of shorts and ratty t-shirt? Fat no. This summer I’m getting rid of anything in my closet that doesn’t bring me joy (Team Marie Kondo, anyone?) and focusing on replacing them with items that make me feel good. Summer is about items that are breathable, light, and easy to throw on, let’s normalize that.
5. Weekly Farmers Market
Eating fresh from the farm is one of my favorite things about living in Greenville – there are so many local farms + vendors to support, and there’s just something so peaceful about starting my weekend with a peaceful walk through the farmers market with coffee in hand.
