Market Mornings

My favorite weekend tradition: hitting our beautiful farmers market. Downtown Greenville hosts one of the best markets that I have ever seen – friendly faces and treats galore. I’m talking freshly made banana bread, hand-picked wildflower bouquets, local honey, and the most colorful array of fruits and vegetables around. There’s no better way to kick off our weekend than waking up early and wandering through each booth, sleepy-eyed, coffee in hand, searching for what we’ll get to take home for the week.

The market is always hustling and bustling with Greenville natives and transplants alike – since Max and I moved to the city we realized that many people who live here, like us, found the gem of a city, fell in love, and created a life here. I love that our city has so much diversity and uniqueness to it, we all may be from different places but Greenville has a way of bringing us all together.

I love swinging by Old Europe before we head up to the market, I’m hooked on their vanilla latte with almond milk, it hits the spot for my much needed caffeine fix. Max can vouch for me when I say I’m not much of a morning person until I’ve had my coffee so he knows Old Europe is a necessity.

At the market we always make sure to hit our essential booths: Kuka Juice for our favorite “Mint Condition” almond mylk (you have to get there early or this is a guarantee sell out!), Banana Manna for the best gluten free vegan banana bread we’ve ever tasted, Nellie T’s for homemade nut butter, and local eggs from the farm. Alongside fresh veggies and seasonal berries from The Happy Berry, these are some of our absolute favorite spots!

After we finish exploring we usually wander around downtown, I have to say Greenville has one of the best downtown areas I’ve ever experienced – there is so much to see and do from live music, good food, and breathtaking views it’s truly unbeatable.

On our last trip to the market we stumbled into The Blueberry Frog to cool off with some frozen yogurt, and ended up finding Cici a cold treat too – double points to you Blueberry Frog, double points to you.

Saturday morning markets will always be something I look forward to because they are always full of surprises. I’m grateful for the chance to stock up on all the goodies while supporting small local businesses. Hope to see you at the next market!
