The title really says it all, except we also bought a pop up camper, and they’re both like twenty years old, and oh they also need some MAJOR love.
Last week on our date to The Happy Berry we were driving through Pickens, SC where we saw a van + Palamino pop up camper for sale. We’ve always dreamed of converting a van to travel and see the U.S. so this truly seemed like the best of both worlds. Our impulsive sides definitely came out and we thought the heck with it, and drove home with both.
We drove home with these babies:
Needless to say it’s a great thing Max is handy and has every tool imaginable (and that I’m willing to learn and get my hands dirty) because these were screaming for help.
We bunkered down and made a vision board of everything we could think of to make the camper and van a place we would be proud to call home (think new paint job, new flooring, cabinets, and more.)
It may seem crazy to some, but this project gives me the excitement that catches in my throat when I talk about it. The opportunity to work on something every day and truly see the hard work we put in come to life, and create a future for us, is more meaningful than the dollars spent.
I may have a tendency to be a bit spontaneous, but thankfully our spontaneity is one of the many reasons Max and I fell for each other. Some may call us crazy or irresponsible but I’ve always believed that life is short and we truly never know what is going to happen next. Jobs could be lost, we could fall ill, we could be moved miles away from one another – there are so many uncontrollable aspects of life that we can never be prepared for.
With that being said we wake up every day with the choice to be whoever we want to be, to start a new hobby, to quit our job and start our own business, to take risks, to adventure, to go vegan, to start running at 5 AM every day. These are all choices we make about the person we want to be and the life we want to live. Life is so short, and we never know what will happen so why not take risks? Why not be spontaneous?
